Champion addition to TriBal's Coaching Team
TriBal Training is excited to announce a key step in bolstering it coaching team with Emma Carney being appointed as Senior Coach, Sprint and Olympic Distance with its Triathlon Squad starting in December 2009.
“We have been looking for a suitable coach to take on the Sprint / Olympic role for a while and see Emma joining the TriBal coaching team as a perfect fit.” said TriBal’s Head Coach, Andy Sleeman. “Emma brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on training, racing and coaching and her experience will provide an invaluable insight for all athletes into what it takes to achieve your best whether you are starting out or looking to take on the world. Over the last couple of years triathlon has been moving forward in exciting new directions and with an injection of fresh energy and a focussed approach from Emma we are looking to propel TriBal’s Sprint and Olympic Distance program to the next level.”
“Emma will be primarily responsible for the development of the Sprint and Olympic Distance Training Programs and Event Schedule and coaching support for Sprint / Olympic distance athletes. We are excited about the development of new opportunities with Emma taking a pivotal role in the introduction of a Junior Triathlon Development Program.” Andy said.
Emma has successfully represent Australia at an international level both in Athletics and Triathlon but it was the sport of Triathlon where Emma made her mark.
In her first international triathlon, Emma won the world championships by the biggest margin in the history of the sport. From this sudden introduction to the sport, Emma became and remained one of the world’s best triathletes. Her career highlights include:
• World Number 1 for 3 years (1995-1998)
• Won her second Triathlon World Championship in 1997
• Won the Triathlon World Cup Series 3 times (1995, 1996 & 1997)
• Won 9 Australian Triathlon National Titles
• Won more World Cup races in the history of the sport (male and female)
Emma’s career was cut short by a heart condition she developed at the peak of her career. She now has an ICD implant, but remains very active and committed to fitness.
Emma has recently been working with an ITU Junior Development Squad in Singapore and locally with corporate groups and individuals as well as running personal and group training.
Emma’s qualifications include:
• Level 2 Triathlon Coach
• Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach
• Qualified Personal Trainer.
Emma joins the TriBal coaching team which includes Head Coach: Andy Sleeman, Coaching Consultant: Annie Martin and Assistant Coach: Michael “Hammer” Clayton.
